Saint Brendan’s Cross

St. Brendan the Navigator. He took a skin boat and a few faithful monks with him and brought the Gospel wherever the winds took him. Some say that was as far as the American continent. Others say he landed on a mystical uncharted island that was really a gigantic sea creature sunning itself. The plaiting within the cross is constructed of only three strands to represent the paths of mind, body and spirit. Can you find them? The circle surrounding the cross is decorated with interlocking spirals that form waves to symbolize the travels of Brendan and his Kerrymen over water.
